BAR BENDING SCHEDULE AND REINFORCEMENT DETAILING
Clear Communication, Precise Execution
- BAR BENDING SCHEDULE AND REINFORCEMENT DETAILING
Our core expertise lies in Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) and Rebar Detailing. We understand that clear communication of design requirements to the fabricator and execution team is paramount for a successful construction project. Our meticulous BBS services enumerate the weight of each size of steel, ensuring that the right materials are used at the right place and time.
- Bar bending schedule is used to communicate the design requirement of reinforcement steel to the fabricator and execution team and to enumerate the weight of each size of steel.
- It is a list of reinforcement steel bars, which includes size and number of bars, cutting length of bars, weight of steel and a sketch representing the shape of bar to be bent.
- We offer you simple yet comprehensive bar bending schedule which can be used in various stages of construction such as estimation, steel procurement, and execution, billing and steel reconciliation.
- Reinforcement Detailing is general positioning and arrangement of rebar in the structure.
- It is a shop drawing representing location of bars placed, referring nomenclatures used in Bar bending schedule.
- Detailing is as important as design since proper detailing of engineering designs is an essential link in the planning and engineering process. It is important not only for the proper execution of the structures but for the safety of the structures.

Reinforcement Optimization
Maximizing Efficiency, Minimizing Costs
- REINFORCEMENT OPTIMIZATION
- Material costs constitute a significant portion of the construction costs. Steel coming under Class A items form a large portion of these costs. Standard length reinforcement bars are required to be cut into required cut-lengths as per the bar-bending schedule (BBS).
- The last piece i.e. off-cut gets wasted or scrapped. For a typical construction project the reinforcement component can be anywhere between 10-45% of the total cost.
- A saving of even 1-2% of this cost by reducing off-cuts can be a sizable saving for that project.
- We deliver optimization solutions which provides best possible cutting schedules so that wastage can be minimized. It also keeps track of off-cut pieces so that they may be used in future to reduce further wastage.
- BENEFITS
- The solution provides wastage reduction of 1-2% of total reinforcement used at the project. The key benefits of the solution can be summarized below:
- Generation of optimum off-cut lengths leading to reduction of reinforcement wastage.
- Reduction in manpower due to defined shifting of bars and related cutting.
- Aids in accurate reconciliation of reinforcement yard.
- Inventory control and procurement monitoring.
- Accountability of sub- contractor’s productivity.

WHY BAR BENDING SCHEDULE [BBS] IS REQUIRED?
- Preparation of highly detailed reinforcement drawing and bar bending schedule is an essential requirement in the construction field, all over the world except in India!! With this we can achieve a high level of quality control at site and will be advantageous in various aspects of construction.
- In the present construction industry, the preparation of the bar bending schedule for the reinforcement work is by site engineers or the supervisors which is being done in India is becoming a bad practice. Due to lack of quality supervisors and unskilled labours in the site, our quality control in bar bending and laying is not up to the standard.
- Also proper cutting of bars is not done which results in cutting wastage. The fact is that the site engineers or the supervisors are not fully aware of all the design considerations that was made for the project, regarding the anchoring, curtailment and lapping of reinforcement bars and their positions. So these schedules should be prepared by the experienced professionals in the design office only.

BENEFITS OF BAR BENDING SCHEDULE [BBS]
- When Bar bending schedule is available, cutting and bending of reinforcement can be done at factory and transported to site. This increases faster execution at site and reduces construction time and cost due to less requirement of workers for bar bending.
- It improves the quality control at site as reinforcement is provided as per bar bending schedule which is prepared using the provisions of respective detailing standard codes.
- It provides the better estimation of reinforcement steel requirement for each and every structural member which can be used to compute overall reinforcement requirement for entire project.
- It provides better stock management for reinforcement. Steel requirement for next phase of construction can be estimated with accuracy and procurement can be done. This prevents stocking of extra steel reinforcement at site for longer time, preventing corrosion of reinforcement in case of coastal areas. It also prevents shortage of reinforcement for on-going work by accurate estimation and thus concrete construction works can proceed smoothly.
- Bar bending schedule is very much useful during auditing of reinforcement and provides checks on theft and pilferage
- It becomes easy for site engineers to verify and approve the bar bending and cutting length during inspection before placement of concrete with the use of bar bending schedule and helps in better quality control.
- The quantity of reinforcement to be used is calculated using engineering formulas and standard codes, so there is no option for approximate estimation of steel reinforcement.
- It enables easy and fast preparation of bills of construction works for clients and contractors.
- As the works gets organized, smaller contractors can work on the project at lesser rate.
